OLD WITH NEW: Found treasures
“ I wanted a space that respected the traditional spirit of the house,” Brenda says.
She shopped local auctions, architectural salvage shops, and tag sales for the
room's primary components. The star is a vintage rattan sofa, chair, and table
from the home's original owners, which Brenda repaired and re-cushioned. “ It

EMBRACE NATURE: Blur the boundaries
Brenda left the windows uncovered to let in natural light and showcase the yard.
“ The garden that surrounds the house is full of colorful flowers, shrubs, and shade
trees,” she says. “ The views are simply too lovely to obscure.” She also worked
houseplants into collections of vases and planters and hung kissing balls from
ceiling-mounted planter hooks around the room.
